I took a look at it and it seems like an interesting service but honestly I'm not 100% sure about how effective it will be. I'll give it a try though and see how it goes. Thanks for pointing it out.

Re: StumbleUpon Traffic

i really haven't been using stumbleupon much but like you after reading darren's post and doing a bit more research really see this as a long term traffic source.

later all and have a profitable productive blogging day

Re: StumbleUpon Traffic

lol only 135 mil huh? that's all?

I belogn to bunch of different groups there, but to be honest my activity there does not go beyond a "stumble" here and there. I will give a stumble to your site now.

Re: StumbleUpon Traffic

I "bumped" this post. I just started using stumbleupon, so I'm hoping that it will start sending me some traffic as well. I think the industry the site is about may have a lot to do with whether or not a site gives you traffic. I love your screen name. Did you know that Vlad the Impaler's castle is up for sale? Only a measly 135 mil and its all yours..... :) Do you belong to any groups on Stumble?

Re: StumbleUpon Traffic

That is exactly why there is no adsense on my blog any more. My cpm was very bad so I removed it to try and help my niche sites. Honestly, I'm not sure it has helped yet. About two weeks.

Re: StumbleUpon Traffic

Great observation Jon! Thanks! I hope my recent stumble did not cause any problems, but I don't recall any AdSense on your blog.

Re: StumbleUpon Traffic

I would suggest that users with young sites that have adsense on them be carefull of stumbling. In my experience, most stumblers don't click ads. The traffic boost with a low cpm could put you into smart-pricing jmho. jon

Re: StumbleUpon Traffic

Meg,

I agree it is hard to figure out why these waves happen. We know that when you hit front page on Digg you get "hit". Some times I think we may not be prepared to the kind of traffic StumbleUpon can bring.

Re: StumbleUpon Traffic

Hi Vlad

You are very right about StumbleUpon coming in waves! I've known bloggers to suddenly get thousands of visitors (on very old posts) in a short space of time. I wish I understood what triggers the sudden spikes a bit better! For me it's been a very nice source of traffic.

Re: StumbleUpon Traffic

Hi,
Yes, StumbleUpon is great. I even started a StumbleUpon "group" in one of my blogs where I receive sites to be stumble from my readers and email them to other readers at random.
